The SHS Mustang Band performs at the Director's Choice Festival in Dallas on April 24, 2012. The band brought home three trophies including the one for best band.
The Sweetwater ISD Band Program is an award winning instrumental music program that encompasses 6th grade through 12th grade. The Sweetwater Bands have a rich tradition of excellence on all levels. The 6th Grade Beginning Band boasts the Best in Class award from the Cisco Music Festival held at Cisco College while the SMS 7th and 8th Grade Band and the SHS Band holds Sweepstakes awards from the University Interscholastic League.
All band students are afforded the opportunity to participate in UIL events including Concert, Sightreading, Marching, and Solo/Ensemble contests throughout the year. The SISD Bands also perform 2 concerts each year as well as providing entertainment at SHS Varsity Football games and other civic functions throughout the year.
The Sweetwater Band Program is under the direction of SHS Band Director Ross Grant and SHS Colorguard Director Andrea Barkley.
