Applicants must be residents of Nolan County and seniors at one of the high schools in the county. Complete the Application Form and return by mail along with the following supporting documents.

  1. A LETTER answering all of the following questions:

    1. Why do you want to be a nurse? How did you originally become interested in nursing as a career?

    2. What kind of nursing work to you plan on doing? Where do you plan to practice nursing (i.e., where and what kind of facility)?

    3. Why do you need scholarship assistance?

    4. Have you applied for or been granted other scholarships? If so, please answer the following:

        • Name of scholarship and/or grant

        • Amount you will receive

        • Which semesters

        • Will these scholarships/grants pay for books and tuition only

  2. TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION At least one on school letterhead from a current or past teacher, counselor or principal. We require that letter(s) of recommendation come from someone who is familiar with your academic record. The second letter may be from another non-family source such as a pastor, scout leader, employer.

  3. A COPY of your most recent TRANSCRIPT. An unofficial transcript is acceptable.

  4. A COPY of the LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE from the college you will be attending.

After you have assembled your application packet to mail to us, be sure to look over this list to verify you have included all the required documents. We also recommend that you make a copy of your complete application packet for your own file. Only complete application packets will be considered. Finalists may be required to have an interview with the selection committee and will be notified of the schedule for the interviews.

Texas Distinguished Young Bobcat Award - $1,000 – 1 Award (Deadline: March 29, 2019)

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

A) Student must be classified as a senior at a High School in the state of Texas. B) Student must be planning to attend Texas State University the fall following high school graduation

C) Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.5.

IVLA understands the importance of a college education for students!  We also understand the expense to families in providing a college education for their children.  We are proud to announce that we are offering a $1,000 scholarship to a student who will be attending a post-secondary school in the Fall of 2019.

We are offering a $1,000 scholarship to any U.S. student accepted to a national college or university who meets the guidelines listed below. Our goal is to provide opportunities to make a college education more affordable to students who desire to pursue a higher education. Our selection process is merit based and determined by the creativity of a 500 word essay submitted through our website.

U.S. resident accepted to an accredited U.S. university, community college, or trade school

  • Submit a 300 – 500 word essay

  • Have a 2.5 GPA or higher

  • Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student with 1+ school year(s) remaining

  • Must be submitted on or before April 30th, 2019

The Recovery Village Health Care Scholarship - $1,000 - 1 Award - (Deadline: June 30,2019)

The Recovery Village Health Care Scholarship:

In order to be eligible, students must meet the following criteria:

  • U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident

  • Enrolled or accepted in an accredited college or university and plan to continue enrollment

  • Consent to a talent release and be willing to provide a digital photograph and quote for display on Advanced Recovery Systems (ARS) websites if notified as the winner

  • Graduating high school seniors who meet the above criteria are encouraged to apply

A $1,000 award will be given to a student pursuing a health-related degree program. Areas of study that will be considered include, but are not limited to, counseling, social work, emergency medicine, pre-med, nursing, psychology (with a focus on addiction counseling or a substance-abuse related field).

Applicants must submit an essay no more than 500 words describing why they are passionate about health care, with a focus on substance abuse and mental health. Essays can draw from personal or professional experience.

Award selection will be based upon:

  • Completed application

  • Originality (20%)

  • Creativity (20%)

  • Writing Skills (20%)

  • Inspiration (20%)

  • Demonstrated interest in addiction treatment and recovery (20%)

The winner will be notified following the deadline and the award will be credited to the student’s school.
Certain information must be provided by the student to The Recovery Village in order for the school to receive the funds.

We the Students Scholarship Opportunity - (Deadline: February 14, 2019)

The deadline for our We the Students Essay Contest is less than a month away so please remind your students to submit their essays as soon as possible.
