Sweetwater Lions Club Scholarship Application Requirements

The Sweetwater Lions Club will be awarding a scholarship of ($500 per year) for a period of (2 years) to a Sweetwater High School graduating senior. The student must attend an accredited college, university, or technical school and be enrolled full-time (12 hours) to receive the scholarship.  The recipient must be a resident of Sweetwater School District.

The Lions Club Scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria:

Community service to school and/or local community (List on Scholarship Service Form) 

500-word essay

School activities/leadership roles

Financial need for assistance (ex. no other significant funds available)

List scholarships received

Honors/Awards Achievements

Recommendations

The following is required:

Transcript of high school credits

GPA of 2.8 or above

The following information must be typed or computer generated:

Letter of recommendation from a teacher in subject matter of major interest

Letter or recommendation from a community leader, clergy or employer

500-word essay on how community service has influenced your development

Completion of Service Application Form

This essay should include accurate statements regarding the extent of your community service experiences. It should also include financial need, and honors and award achievements in high school. Demonstrate any outstanding community service accomplishments, and describe personal transformation experienced from service work.  Explain why it is important for every person to be involved in some type of service work within the community.

The Sweetwater Lions Club Scholarship Committee may interview final candidate.  Interested students should pick up an application from the Sweetwater High School Office by

March 25, 2019, complete the application and submit it to the Sweetwater High School Office by April 30, 2019.  Applications received after this date will not be considered.  Scholarship recipient will be announced at the awards ceremony on May 9, 2018 at 6:00-7:30p.m.
