TSTC has a new scholarship this year, for new students enrolling beginning fall 2016. This unique program is to provide cost of attendance assistance to qualified students during their first two consecutive semesters of enrollment at TSTC. The total award will be up to $1,000 per full-time student.
The Texan Success Scholarship has been provided by Texas companies and communities to help grow the workforce with skilled people like your students. I've included an information sheet (click here), which describes the evaluation criteria and hope that you will refer your seniors to Ian Robertson atian.robertson@tstc.edu.

TSTC is in the business of powering the Texas economy with skilled technicians - companies and communities are investing in your students. As superintendent, you have the most influence for those leaving high school and preparing for their future careers. We appreciate you spreading the word among your staff and encouraging students to remember technical careers that will lead to their success in the new economy:

Virginia Kiker Hughes Memorial Scholarship

We are looking for applicants for this fine scholarship which pays between $1,000 to $3,000 per year for two years depending on the applicant’s chosen college and requires the student to furnish a cost estimate. This is not a scholarship that is meant to jump start someone to their four year college studies, but rather a two year award meant to help a student obtain a certificate or degree to help the student obtain employment.  This is not offered to nursing students since we have other scholarships directed at that area.  This would be more on the line of  business and industry including such training as offered by TSTC or Cisco:

I wanted to reach out to you regarding the 2016 PlayMaker scholarship.  The application is found on our website at www.playmakerdifference.com .  PlayMaker began as an idea from a group of boys in the Hamlin Boys Club to strengthen and encourage positive character in youth and has turned into an opportunity to award $5,000 in scholarships to Big Country seniors.

Don't Mess With Texas Scholarship

Sponsored by Forestar, the Don't mess with Texas Scholarship recognizes the achievements of high school seniors who have taken a leadership role to prevent litter in their school and/or community and promote awareness of the Don't mess with Texas initiative.

Any high school senior currently attending public, private, or home school in Texas and planning to pursue a two- or four-year degree at an accredited Texas college or university next year may apply.

Don’t mess with Texas is a statewide litter prevention program that encourages Texans to keep their roadways clean. More than half a billion pieces of visible trash accumulate on Texas roadways each year, and Texans ages 16 to 34 are the most likely to litter.

Scholarship applications will be judged based on student essays that describe how their efforts raise awareness and motivate a new generation of Texans to prevent litter.

Visit DontmesswithTexas.org to learn about the scholarship and how to apply. Need help? Contact or call 1-800-CLEAN-TX.
