Texas Department of Transportation’s Conditional Grant Program Information

Enclosed you will find information regarding the Texas Department of Transportation’s Conditional Grant Program.  The grant is available to graduating high school seniors and college students.  The maximum grant award is $3,000 each semester or $6,000 per academic year.

The grant provides tuition assistance to eligible economically disadvantaged students majoring in civil engineering, computer science, management information systems or computer information systems.  Student must be a Texas resident attending or plans to enroll in a four-year Texas public college or university.

Applications to the Conditional Grant Program must be received in our office no later than March 1st.  You may access our website to obtain program rules and download additional applications.  Please feel free to contact me at 1-866-554-4330 with any questions you may have regarding the Conditional Grant Program.

Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) Scholarships Available

Scholarships are available to High School Seniors through the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE), both nationally and within the state of Texas, through the Texas Elks State Association (TESA).  The applications, as well as additional information, are available online.  

 The first scholarship deadline is for the Most Valuable Scholar (MVS) and that completed application must be submitted online by 30 November.  The link for this scholarship is: http://www.elks.org/scholars/scholarships/mvs.cfm

    The TESA applications are available at http://www.texaselks.org/2016-2017-scholarships.html.  The deadline for those applications is usually in early March.

Within the last four years there has been a MVS scholarship, a TESA Scholarship, a vocational grant, and an Eagle Scout awarded within our area.

*Senior going to college to study: Petroleum land management, geology, engineering, drilling, exploration, midstream or any other form of the oil and gas industry.  $500 awarded.

*Write a one page essay on "Why you want to pursue a future in oil and gas"
