a.    The Salvation Army is here to help meet all of your basic needs. 6)    First Baptist Church’s City Light Community Ministries

a.    City Light Community Ministries works to minister to the disadvantaged in our community. Through our hot meal program that operates three days a week, personal assistance, and spiritual counseling. City Light strives to provide a safe place for those is need. Besides the benevolence work, City Light also has several programs designed to help with spiritual growth as well. Big A for grades 1-5, Rockin’ Moms provides help for single mothers and their children, and there is also a Sunday morning breakfast worship service.

7)    University Church of Christ: Christian Service Center

a.    Each weekday the ministry serves the poor of Abilene by providing clothing, food, bedding, kitchen items, fans, heaters, furniture, emergency dental services and spiritual nurture and counsel. The Center’s major projects are: 

   Operation Blue Jeans- providing clothes, school supplies and children’s Bibles for low-income kids.
   Seasonal comfort- offering heater and blankets in the winter and box fans in the summer.
   Planting the seed- giving Bibles to adults
   Feed the Hungry – includes University Church of Christ’s special annual contribution for the Center’s food pantry on the Sunday before Thanksgiving         Standing in the Gap- assisting people with emergency needs with gas vouchers, bus passes, prescriptions, or rent and utility help.

a.    The Rolling Plains Management Corporation offers the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program which emphasizes on meeting the immediate home energy needs of those with low income and high relative energy burdens, with a secondary emphasis on reducing the energy needs and cost to such households. The programs consist of two components

    Household Crisis – provides utility assistance, service and repair of existing heating and cooling units or portable units in and energy related crisis.
    Utility Assistance- provides energy payments to assist low-income household to reduce their home energy needs
