Sweetwater Middle School competed at its first Lego Robotics League event at Billy Ryan High School in Denton on December 3rd. Representing SMS were the Afro Chefs (Dylan Jimenez, Corbin Bradley, Adrian Ortega, Daniel Pena and Josh Browning) and the Bacteria Ninjas (Abby Lynch, Annaliese Espinoza, Christa Martin, Abby Garcia, Bella Pena and Jaelynn Page).

The girls robotics team placed in the top 10 and will be advancing to the North Texas Regional Championship in Dallas on January 21st.  The Bacteria Ninjas also took a first place trophy in Core Values which represents exemplary teamwork in effectiveness, efficiency and gracious professionalism. The team also received a callback based on their robot design. 

FLL emphasizes STEM,  which means the use of science, technology, engineering and math, as part of the overall education process.These students previously attended a STEM Institute in Fort. Collins, Co in June. The Sweetwater Middle School robotics teams are sponsored by Ludlum Measurements.
