Pictured left to right: Cody Chapman, Chance Adams, Eathan Speer, Leah Warren, & Austin WattsSweetwater Middle School competed in the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association  (TMSCA) meet this past Saturday, March 5th, at San Angelo's Lincoln Junior High School.  Four students from SMS qualified in San Angelo for the upcoming state competition to held in San Antonio on April 9th.  Joining Austin Watts and Daniel Pena, who had already qualified for state, were Eathan Speer (3rd), Cody Chapman (T-4th), Chance Adams (T-4th), and Leah Warren (6th).

TMSCA students have one more tune up, at Abilene Wylie, before the state meet.  Academic Coach Larry Hopple said, "We areDaniel Pena placed 1st in the sixth grade science competition at the Plainview TMSCA meet. always proud of every student that competes in TMSCA.  These qualifiers show the strength of our science program at SMS and SISD as a whole.  We could not be as successful as we are without the support of all those teachers in the lower grades.  They come to SMS well prepared - as shown by the Exemplary ratings at our Elementary campuses."
