The keynote address at Thursday's ESC14 Roadshow in the Sweetwater High School Auditorium was delivered by Dave Davlin. Using basketball to teach his philosophy of hitting the game winning three, Davlin brought SHS teacher Tina Melendez to the stage to make a point.
Davlin got his start performing by sharing his unique basketball skills at halftime of professional and college basketball games. In 1988 he was invited to perform during the Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. He traveled for years touring the public schools of America sharing with students the importance of setting goals and making wise decisions.
In 1990, he illustrated his philosophy by setting and achieving the goal of spinning the most basketballs on the human body at one time. By simultaneously spinning 12 basketballs on his body for 7.97 seconds, his picture and name were placed in the 1990 edition of The Guinness Book of World Records.
