Students Paige Anderson, Callie Boswell, and Michelle Perez were saddened to find out that their classmate Emily Bloomquist lost her home on January 4, 2015 to fire.  In an effort to support their classmate, the students contemplated hosting a bake sale, asking students to donate clothing, and donating gift cards until they settled on sponsoring a "Penny Drive" at the high school campus.

Last Wednesday, January 7, 2015, the students started a three-day campaign with a goal of raising $500.00.  On Wednesday they collected about $170.00 and $200.00 on Thursday.  The students were excited because they were only $130.00 from their goal on Friday, but the faculty, staff, and students at Sweetwater High School donated $419.00 on Friday.

On Monday, January 12, 2015, students Callie Boswell and Michelle Perez presented Emily with a cashier's check for $789.00 to help replace items destroyed by the fire.

When presented the check, Emily said that she was proud to be part of Sweetwater High School and thankful to have classmates that cared so much for her and her family
