From Dr. Ron Morris, Principal Sweetwater High School -

Sweetwater High School is excited to announce that Whataburger, 1009 E. Broadway, is sponsoring a fundraiser to help the high school raise money to support student needs - including purchasing supplies, incentives, and other items that students need to be successful in school.  This is the first time in recent years that the high school has had an opportunity to partner with Whataburger.

The "Oh! Whata Night" fundraiser will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016 at the Sweetwater Whataburger.  During the "Oh! Whata Night" community members and parents as well as elementary, middle, and high school students can come and enjoy their favorite menu items with 20% of all proceeds being donated to SHS. Additionally, there will be live music, a photo booth, and a drawing, where one lucky participant wins a Whataburger a week for a year.

"Sweetwater is great because businesses and community members, like Whataburger want to support students and help our schools," said Mathew Gutierrez.  Mathew, a SHS Senior, loves the Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich at Whataburger. "Sometimes students just need additional assistance purchasing some supplies and all students love to get incentives.  With new funds the school will be able to better support student learning, success, and achievement."

Sweetwater High School has been working to improve student achievement, increase school pride, and broaden parent and community involvement.  The "Oh! Whata Night" program supports each of these goals while providing a fun and exciting event in our community.  All community members are welcome to join SHS at Whataburger between 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Monday, November 7th.  Well developed community activities and events are another example of SHS progress towards becoming the premier high school in the Big Country.
