From Teresa Slaton, Teacher at SIS:

I hope your school year is off to a great start.  My year is definitely off to a great start because I'm pretty sure I have the best class in Sweetwater.

I have had the Funderwear and would love to nominate the S.I.S. custodial staff - Rosie, Angie, San Juana, and Lupe.

These ladies are simply amazing.  Sometimes it is so easy to take them for granted.  They are the glue that holds this campus together.  Our campus is always immaculate each and every day.  They come to our rescue on a daily basis (stuck lockers, spilled water, cleaning up throw-up, bringing in another desk or chair), while cleaning our campus.   The ladies always have a smile on their faces and never complain.  They greet the students with a smile and ask how they are.  They make sure our campus is decorated during the holidays.  Last year a student said, " I like driving by and seeing the Christmas lights at school because we don't have any at home."

This year, they have left my class little notes on my desk "thanking" the students for helping keep the room clean. The kids absolutely love the notes.  They even spoil the teachers with homemade salsa.  These are just a few of the little things that mean the most.  The ladies are amazing and always make everyone feel loved.  Therefore, I nominate Rosie, San Juana, Angie, and Lupe to receive the Funderwear Award.  Kathy once said "it takes a village to raise a child".  Our village would cease to exist without these ladies.

Thanks,

Teresa Slaton
