The SISD Ambassador Program is being implemented to serve as an instrument through which citizens of the community may gain a better understanding of public school operations, specifically tailored to the operations of Sweetwater ISD. The program will give participants the opportunity to learn more about:

* the district mission, vision, values, and goals
* district operations with regard to business operations and school finance
* curriculum, instruction, and assessment in the district, as well as district extra-curricular and co-curricular program offerings
* board member roles and responsibilities, and
* superintendent role and responsibilities

The program may be of particular interest to individuals who might be interested in running for the school board in the future, but is certainly not limited in that capacity, as it will provide any Sweetwater citizen with a better understanding about school district operations, the reasoning for many of the district’s operational decisions, and it will provide better insight as to why SISD is a great school choice for our community and its children.

Who may attend:  The program is open to citizens interested in learning more about the Sweetwater ISD, its role in the larger community, and how the district functions toward meeting its mission of ensuring that all students have opportunities to be successful in their learning for life. The program is limited to 15 individuals who choose to register as a participant (due to the limited number of spaces, we do ask that if you sign–up, you are making a commitment to attend all 4 meetings). The selection process will be based on efforts to create a group that is highly representative of the SISD Community.

What is the cost:  The program is free of charge, but is limited to the first 15 people who sign-up. The only commitment we ask of participants is a commitment of their time to attend all 4 meetings.

When are the dates:
September 12, 2017- 5:30-6:30 pm
October 10, 2017- 5:30-6:30 pm
November 14, 2017- 5:30-6:30 pm
December 12, 2017- 5:30-6:30 pm

How to Sign-up:  Contact Mrs. Laura Bedgood, Secretary to the Superintendent, at 325-235-8601 x 104, for an application.;  deadline to apply is August 25, 2017.

Additional info:  There will be a small meal provided for participants at each of the 4 meetings. Location will be set once district operations calendars are finalized, but meetings will likely be at an SISD facility.
