(Sweetwater) — The Sweetwater ISD Board of Trustees voted to approve the hiring of Mrs. Casey Bills to take on the role of the district’s Business Manager at a specially called meeting of the Board on July 24th at the Sweetwater ISD Board Room.  Mrs. Bills earned her Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Angelo State University in 1991. She currently serves as the District Business Manager for Merkel Independent School District.

Bills began her career with an accounting firm in 1992 in Hamlin, TX. In 1995, she left James E. Rodgers & Company to work in Stamford ISD as the assistant finance officer and federal programs director.  Casey was employed in Stamford until 2012 when she left to go work for the Education Service Center 14 in Abilene as a school finance business consultant with a specialty teaching school finance using the education business platform known as TxEIS, the platform that Sweetwater is currently in the process of migrating to district-wide.   After spending four years at ESC 14, she began her current role as Business Manager of Merkel ISD in 2016.

Casey is married to Bill, a retired school administrator.  Together, they have a daughter, Olivia, who is currently attending Oklahoma State University where she is a junior.

“The position of Business Manager for Sweetwater attracted highly qualified individuals with various backgrounds and we interviewed several who were all well qualified to do the job of Business Manager” Dr. McFarland, Sweetwater ISD Superintendent said.  “What made Casey stand out immediately was her professionalism, her attention to detail, her  knowledge base in school finance, and her demeanor that will fit right in with the business office staff.  Her expertise was highly recommended by professionals in the school business world in our region, and her experience and knowledge of working with the TxEIS software that we are moving to just adds to her value for us as a district,” he added.

Of her new role, Mrs. Bills said, “My selection as Business Manager for Sweetwater ISD is both a professional honor and a personal blessing.  I am very excited about the opportunity to work in a school district that has such a longstanding tradition of excellence.  My family and I are looking forward to living in a vibrant, self-sustaining community like Sweetwater, and we are eager to join Mustang Nation.”

Casey will officially begin her role in SISD on August 1, 2018.
