Former Mayor Jay Lawrence Visits Southeast Elementary

From the students of Southeast Elementary - Mr. Jay Lawrence visited Mrs. Houston's class at Southeast Elementary today to talk about the responsibilities of our city government and our responsibilities as citizens. He told us about the precincts, the commissioners (how they serve 2 year terms), and the mayor of Sweetwater (who serves a 2 year term as well). He described how the city maintains the parks, swimming pool, streets, and animal shelters. He also told us that the city is responsible for our trash pickup, police department, and fire department! He told us that our city government helps make rules and laws for our community. We were so excited to have him come today!

East Ridge Announces District UIL Academic Meet Results

East Ridge Principal Vicki Mayberry announced that several of her students placed at the Elementary UIL Academic Meet in Snyder and added, "I am very proud of the kiddos that participated in the UIL Meet in Snyder last week!"

Celeste Gonzalez placed second and Hannah Nixon sixth in 3rd Grade Story Telling

Anna Hall placed second, Hadlee Hardin third, and Gregory Weaver sixth in 3rd Grade Ready Writing

Jaden Doggett placed first and Seth Davis placed fourth in 2nd Grade Story Telling

Makayla Sanchez placed fourth in 2nd Grade Creative Writing

East Ridge 3rd Grade placed second as a Team at the meet

 

SHS Student Alex Moschella Publishes Second Book

Sweetwater High School Student, Alex Moschella, recently published his second book.  His most recent work is a collection of poetry titled Pathways and can be purchased at Amazon.com.  Alex is pictured in the SHS Library with his leaders:  Assistant Principal Tecka Mobley, Principal Stacy Jones and Librarian Pam Lawrence.

Southeast Awards Vicky Soto the Star Staff of the Week

Mrs Vicky Soto was presented the Southeast Elementary Star Staff of the Week award by Principal Peggy Elliott this week. According to Mrs. Elliott, "Mrs. Soto is very helpful to students, staff and parents. She is an important part of Southeast Elementary!"

Sweetwater FFA Annual Meat, Fruit, and Dessert Sale

The Sweetwater FFA is holding our annual Meat, Fruit and Dessert Sale! We will be selling through this Friday, November 15th! This is our primary fundraiser which helps support all of our student activities. If you are interested in buying any of the delicious items we offer, you can buy from any Sweetwater FFA member. New Victory Flag Introduced at Sweetwater High School

The flag that you see flying in the picture below is the new SHS Victory Flag, designed and created by the Mighty Mustang Band to fly after every victory by any group at SHS.  It was unveiled today after the Mustang's big win Friday night in Monahans. Pictured with the new flag are the two Drum Majors of the Mighty Mustang Band - Crysten Ivy and Andria Golden.
