SIS Scholastic Book Fair Planned for October 6 - 10th

Sweetwater Intermediate's new Librarian Lori Needham announced today that her school would be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair currently scheduled for Oct. 6-10, 2014. For more details, please contact Lori at SIS.

2nd Annual 'Red Run' Scheduled for Friday August 22nd at 8am

The 2nd Annual Sweetwater Strong Red Run will be held Friday, August 22nd. It will end the week of training for the SISD staff and be a community wide celebration for the start of the 2014-2015 school year that begins on Monday, August 25th. Everyone will meet at 8:00 a.m. on the corner of 14th and Ragland.

Participants are invited to complete the course by walking, running, riding, or by joining the cheering crowd to encourage everyone to celebrate and have the happiest experience ever! If you plan to get powder on you, wear white that you don't mind staining with red. Wear a shower cap, mask or headband if you wish. Bring a towel for your car seat.

Everyone in the community is invited to join this celebration! Come ready to enjoy yourself and have fun! Richard Fergeson State Farm Insurance will once again provide the water tent and Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital has expressed an interest in having a tent. Any businesses or individuals who would like to provide a tent, services or goodies are welcome to join us! The Red Run course begins and ends at the Mustang Bowl Championship sign. There is also an alternate Route B if you need a shorter distance but you will miss one color station. It will be epic!

We are also excited about the opportunity to personalize the meet the teacher' experience this year. Between August 15th and August 22nd, Kindergarten through 5th grade students can look forward to their teacher dropping by for a short visit. Parents have reached out every year by attending back to school events and we wish to repay that commitment by coming to the homes. In addition, following the Red Run on Friday, campuses will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for students and parents to drop off school supplies to the classroom and/or buy lunch tickets.

SHS and SMS are unable to make home visits this year due to an exciting 3 day training, Capturing Kids Hearts. SHS will host Meet the Teacher from 4:30 - 6:30 on Tuesday, August 19th and SMS on Thursday, August 21st also from 4:30 to 6:30. The first Mustang football scrimmage will be Thursday night beginning at 6:30 followed by Meet the Mustangs.

We are Sweetwater Strong and Stronger Than Ever!
