SISD Technology Loan Program Announces Changes for the New Year

Sweetwater ISD's Technology Loan Program, which supplies our sixth through twelfth grade student Apple iPads, will have a few changes starting with the new school year.

Instead of a yearly usage fee there will be a one time $50 deposit collected in August during 'Meet the Teacher' or when students return to school. This deposit is refundable when the student leaves the district and will be carried forward as they advance grade levels.

Also new this year is an insurance option that covers most damage without a deductible and without a limit on the number of times the device can be repaired. The insurance is provided by iTurity in Austin and can be purchased for $44.

Sweetwater High School Announces Open Registration for New Students

Sweetwater High School Counselors announced that open registration for students new to the high school and district will take place on August 13-14, 2015 and August 18, 2015.  Additionally, students enrolling at Wallace Accelerated High School in Colorado ISD can register at Sweetwater High School in Thursday, August 13, 2015.  Registration will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.

"Although we continuously enroll students, we set aside three days that we can focus on the specific needs of new students," said Counselor Kellie Kiker. "We want to make sure that our newest Mustangs get in the correct content and elective classes.  Students who enroll by August 18th will be able to pick up their schedules at Meet-the-Teacher Night scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, 2015.

Parents should bring the following items to registration: birth certificate, previous year's report card, shot record, social security card, and proof of residency.  The registration process typically takes less than one hour and includes time where the new student selects courses for the 2015-2016 school year.  Students promoted from Sweetwater Middle School have been automatically enrolled at the high school

"As we work to become the premier high school in the Big Country, we want to start the year on a positive note," said Counselor Ruth Ann Campbell. "The first day of school is August 24, 2015 and we want each student to have the correct classes so they will be able to graduate on time."
