Mustang Band a Success at Big Country Marching Festival in Abilene

The Sweetwater High School Marching Band competed in the Big country Marching Festival this past Saturday in Abilene. For the second straight week, the Mighty Mustang Band came away with straight “1’s” from all judges.

Due to rain, the event was moved indoors, but Sweetwater was still able to march their show in front of an enthusiastic home crowd which included SHS principal Stacey Jones and many supporters, parents and friends.

Adjudicator Greg Miller commented in his critique, "Excellent work with your marching technique. Great general effect throughout your show!” Adjudicator Ed Hefti added – “Wow, this is a 3-ring circus! I love it. Very entertaining.” Adjudicator James Mallow also commented, “Great showmanship and soloists.”

The Mustang Band’s final contest of the season will be on Monday, October 17, at the UIL Region Marching Contest at Wylie High School in Abilene. Sweetwater will perform at 8:15 PM. The band would love to have a great home crowd at their final contest event. Admission is free.  -- Carola Martin
