Sweetwater ISD has been led by Dr. Deidre Parish, Superintendent, since June 2022.  A native Texan from Lubbock, she and her husband, Dr. Bud Parish, have made their home in Sweetwater. The Parishes have two grown daughters, Catherine and Isabella, who are also in public education. 

Before coming to SISD, Dr. Parish served as Superintendent of Darrouzett ISD.  Other highlights of her career include Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction for Decatur ISD, Director of Professional Learning at Frisco ISD, and Adjunct Professor for the University of North Texas.

Under her leadership, a $49,500,000 bond was passed in May of 2023. The bond addresses student opportunities and aging facilities, as well as safety & security. Construction of a new Career and Technical Education building and a new gymnasium will begin at Sweetwater High School in April of this year.  

Dr. Parish’s Mustang Spirit reaches beyond the school district. She is very active in the Sweetwater community. She is a member of the Chamber Board of Directors, Applause, Sweetwater House Concert, Women's Forum, PEO and numerous other committees that support and improve the quality of life in Sweetwater.
