Dear Parents and Guardians,

As part of our commitment to student health and safety, students in grades 10-12 will participate next week in a brief, classroom based lesson on teen dating violence prevention and healthy relationships. This lesson will be taught by a liaison from Gateway Family Services.

This evidence-based curriculum is designed to increase students’ awareness of healthy relationship skills, help them recognize warning signs of unhealthy or unsafe behaviors, and provide information on available resources and supports. The lesson is age-appropriate and aligns with our district’s efforts to promote a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.

If you prefer that your student not participate, you may opt out by completing the form linked below:

If you have any questions or would like additional information, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.

Sincerely,

A Powerful Message of Resilience!

Sweetwater High School students had the opportunity to hear fromTyson Dever with Teens in the Driver Seat today as he shared an inspiring message about overcoming adversity and refusing to be defined by the circumstances life hands you. His story challenged students to take ownership of their future, choose their response to hardship, and never allow themselves to become victims of their situation.

Sweetwater ISD would like to thank Mr. Dever, Jill Christie (TxDOT) , and Sergeant Marc Couch (DPS).

Sweetwater ISD will welcome students and staff back at regular start times tomorrow, Friday, January 30. Please continue to use caution, as some slick spots may remain on sidewalks, parking lots, and roads. 🚌 Buses will run on pavement only.

we survived the weather
Sweetwater ISD has continued to monitor road conditions throughout the community. After evaluating sidewalks, parking lots, and streets surrounding our campuses, we have determined that conditions remain unsafe for students and staff to return at this time. As a result, school has been canceled for Thursday, January 29.

school closure January 29
Sweetwater ISD is closely monitoring conditions in campus parking lots and on roads and sidewalks around our schools, including less-traveled areas. Our primary concerns are safe travel conditions for everyone and parking lot conditions for staff and students. After working closely with the City of Sweetwater, the decision has been made to delay the start of school until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 29. School buses will run at least two hours later than their regular schedules and will not operate on rural routes. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. Thank you for your understanding.
